Hey everyone it’s Rashad and this is Wear Many Hats presented by Dahsar where we talk about your main gig then we talk about your side hustle.
Andrew Herzog is a multidisciplinary conceptual artist and designer and is the Partner and Director for School, a creative design studio founded by two designer-engineer-types. His artworks have occupied museums, galleries, and city streets.
School’s select works include The New Yorker, Haus, Publik Library, and one of my favorite brands, Entireworld.
I first heard of Andrew through his previous design studio HAWRAF and just kept following their journey after that. Andrew has also led projects at Google Creative Lab. He also is a professor at the School of Visual Arts in New York.
I threw my hat in the ring to work at School but no dice, instead was able to have him on the podcast.

Where are you currently?
So when I saw that you were bestowed the honorary title of Philadelphia Artist and contributed a page to Draw To Action’s coloring book, I read that you were born in Philly?
This is a Philly podcast based in NYC.
I love when you had the “Blue Sky or Sky Blue” exhibition byt the pier overlooking the Ben Franklin bridge, you mentioned Philly cats, going “What the hell are these things?” Such a Philly thing that people from Philly would say that’s anything but a Pretzel
You know the picture of you doing a handstand in the Tom Sachs Mars Yard Nikes I thought you and Tom had similar works, including your handwriting.
I love that your website is dated all the way back to 94 and shows a picture you drew.
You’re like one with nature with your IG posts. Is there a place you go to do all your outdoor projects upstate? It seems like you’re always in nature.

Just some housekeeping, Do you tell people that the studio is called School, School with 5 Os or Schooool?
Were you good in school?
Love the website. My favorite game on there is Select all the images that contain School.
I love that when you go to Selected Work and you click on the Entireworld project, you guys really go into detail of how you created it and I love it.
Honestly the first time I ever went on Entireworld’s site, I told myself I really loved the website and continued to not buy anything.
Even with the Space Us identity, you really broke it down from logo to the typefaces you selected. Discussed about working with artist Jocelyn Tsaih on her beautiful illustrations.
School is very honest. The collaboration, everything.
