Geoff Snack is a senior strategist at Jam3, an illustration instructor at OCAD University, teaches experimental design at Miami Ad School Toronto, and consultant.

Geoff applies strategy, research, user insights, new ideas, and new technologies to his work for clients such as Facebook, Google, adidas, and more.

Geoff is our first Wear Many Hats listener that plugged us in and wanted to be on the pod.

Geoff is often mistaken as a furniture designer for all the chairs he puts on Ig but no it’s because we like to sit our asses down on some nice comfy seats. And also have a deep appreciation for chairs.

People often like to post fit pics such as myself, he likes to post pictures of rare books, zines, and vintage punk tees.

Here we are learning how you can teach an illustration class but can’t draw.

You recently moved, how does it feel to be in the new spot.

I just read this new New York Times article about Welcome the YOLO Community where everyone is leaving their main jobs for their side hustles and got me thinking oh wow I’m promoting hustle culture.

New tagline “quit your job, and go with your gut!”

Start a side hustle.

It’s funny though people were leaving their main job as a lawyer, to be a smaller lawyer and just have time to hang out with their wife and dog. I was like ya big YOLO.

Chairs

I mean you love chairs I love chairs, we both bonded over the fact that the Lichen homies are doing great work. I actually just purchased an authentic Knoll BRNO chair from them, basically brand new for a steal. Someone bought one, I don’t know why they didn’t buy the pair. But I gotta chill on the chairs. My small ass apartment is basically all chromed out now.

Teaching

Do you not have kids that’s why you can devote most of your time to teaching the youth? I love that you work in several non-profits and several for profits such as these damn colleges.

But I feel you with the balance.

Over at OCAD you say that your course focuses on identifying the soft skills and traits that separate successful creatives from non-successful creatives. I didn’t know that could be a course. Then you throw down the UX, Design, and Web Development.

Do you ever think Jam3 sounds like a shoegaze band?

What’s your favorite tee in your collection?

I’ve been sourcing a bunch of vintage museum, motorcycle, what have you tees for our new collection of vintage that Dahsar my brand is doing.
