Homeboy Sandman and I have a relationship like no other. Organic as ever. How I heard about him for the first time was when I met my friend James, spinning me his record “First of a Living Breed” in his apartment in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. James told me what he knew about Sandman and from there on I was hooked. The love language of music in the room having all these special people listening to Homeboy Sandman’s record made me one day hope to see him at a show.

Surely enough, I saw him at the Hard Rock Cafe in Philadelphia with another favorite, Oddisee with my friend Amanda and before he got on stage I met up with him, had a conversation about his music and my brand Dahsar and I slipped him the ‘Hail Mary’ hat a Dahsar original, one of our first hats ever, which has an all over Virgin Mary print on the inside and right when he got on stage he wore it and he was the first person to wear my gear on stage.

Fast forward, we collaborated on tour merch, released a couple 5-panels and t-shirts together and I went to a few shows in the states. Always a pleasure to see Homeboy Sandman anywhere on the streets. One of my favorite musicians in the game please welcome Homeboy Sandman.

Quelle Chris produced your new record, Don’t Feed The Monster.

Speaking of Quelle Chris, the track Sacred Safe that you’re on with Chris Keys, Cavalier, and Merill Garbus is hella soothing. The keys in the background and when I heard you come in, I was like that’s my guy.

Great track, I love when you collaborate.

How do you do it, you keep putting out fire records left and right and I almost can’t keep up.

Humble Pi with Edan was beauty. The last record you put out with Stones Throw.

Last time we ran into each other was in the city, and we were talking about stand up comedy. We need to do a set. You got any jokes you could tell me?

Christian from Brooklyn asks what was it like meeting Peanut Butter Wolf for the first time?

Musician is my all time favorite tracks by you. It inspires me to keep on pursuing my career as a musician even though I mostly work in design. The vision is to become a musician.

Our collaboration label has the lyrics to musician and I love it so much. Which the beginning says

Yo

Dedicating this to

Young female, who I’m sure meant no harm

Asked me what I did

Told her I was a musician

Said “What kind of music do you make?”

I said “I make hip-hop”

She said “Oh, you mean you’re a rapper?”

How we end the podcast is that if you were to get a chest tattoo quote in olde english what would your phrase be?

Till next time this is Wear Many Hats with your host Rashad presented by Dahsar. Peace.
